Getting a licence
The screen, and the three ways in
Why the page looks different on different stores, and how to start a trial, enter a key or buy one.
The screen changes with your licence
Each version shows only the situation you are in
no stored settingsRegistration is not one page. It picks a version based on what your store currently holds, so what you see is only ever the situation you are actually in.
With no licence it shows the three ways to get one. On a trial it shows the trial and how to turn it into a licence. With an active licence it shows the licence details and the tools to manage it. When support has expired it leads with renewal. On a development copy, such as a localhost or staging site, it says so and explains that the copy runs on your live store’s licence.
The heading is the same throughout: Registration & activation. If the page looks nothing like what a colleague described, it is because their store is in a different state, not because something is wrong.
Starting out
Trial, an existing key, or buying one
no stored settingsOn the free edition the page offers three routes, each stated once.
The 14-day trial installs and activates the PRO plugin in one click, with no card required. Every Pro feature is unlocked, and if you let it lapse the Pro panels simply lock again with nothing lost. It is one trial per site, and it uses the email on your WordPress account.
If you already have a key, the PRO plugin has to be installed and active before the licence form appears. The page notices where you are and offers the right next step: install it, activate it, or paste the key. When the PRO plugin is installed but switched off and too old for this version of WP EasyCart, the button reads Update and activate WP EasyCart PRO and updates it first.
Buying a licence links out to plans and pricing. PRO includes every paid feature plus priority support and updates, billed monthly or yearly with AutoPay; Premium adds every extension. Cancel any time in My Account. The key arrives by email and is entered back on this page.
Entering a key takes your full name, email address and the key itself. The email is worth getting right: AutoPay receipts and notices go to it.
💡 Note: The licence form only appears once the WP EasyCart PRO plugin is installed and active. If you cannot see somewhere to paste your key, that is why.
Managing it
Sites, copies, details and endings
Moving a licence between sites, running it on development copies, reading the details panel, and what happens when a trial or licence runs out.
One key, one live site
How moving a licence works
no stored settingsA licence covers one live WordPress site, plus up to three development copies ( see below ). That is the rule behind most of the confusion on this screen, and it is simpler than people expect.
Entering your key on another live site moves the licence there automatically. There is no need to free it up first, and no ticket to raise: activate on the new site and the old one drops off.
You can also deactivate deliberately, which is the tidy thing to do when you are retiring a site. Move this license asks you to confirm the key, then releases it for use elsewhere. Your data stays exactly where it is; only the entitlement moves.
Every key on your account is listed in My Account on the WP EasyCart site, with its plan, its renewal or end date and the site it is currently on. That is the place to look when you cannot remember where a key went.
💡 Note: Entering the key on another live site moves the licence there automatically. Nothing needs to be released first, which is what makes moving to a new host painless.
Development copies
Localhost and staging sites beside your live store, up to three
no stored settingsYour licence also runs on up to three development copies of your store, such as a localhost install or a staging site, and the live store keeps its licence. Enter the key on the copy’s own Registration page as usual. Instead of moving the licence, the copy joins the key’s development sites, and the page says This copy is now one of your license’s development sites. Your live store keeps its license.
An address counts as a development copy when it is a local address ( localhost, a loopback or private network address, or a name ending in .local, .test, .localhost, .ddev.site or .lndo.site ), a hosting company’s staging address ( WP Engine, Kinsta, Pantheon, Flywheel, InstaWP or Cloudways ), or a staging., dev. or test. address of your live store. Any other address is a live site, and entering the key there moves the licence as above.
The Development sites card lists the live store and each copy, when it was added and when it last checked in, with Remove on each and how many of the three are used. It shows on the live store and on every copy, so a copy can be removed from either. On a copy the licence card reads Pro license active on this development site ( or Premium ), with the Development site and the store it is Licensed through, and Remove this development site frees its place.
When all three places are taken, the copy says so and lists the key’s development sites so you can remove one there and activate again. A copy that has not checked in for 90 days gives up its place by itself. An ended licence cannot add development copies.
💡 Note: Working on a copy of your store? Enter the key there without worry: a localhost or staging copy joins the development sites and your live store keeps its licence.
An active licence
What the details panel tells you
no stored settingsWith a licence in place the page confirms whether it is Pro or Premium and is active on this site, then lists the details: the registered URL, the support and updates end date with the days left, the key itself and the licence email.
The registered URL is worth checking. A licence registered to a different address than the one you are working on is the usual explanation for features that will not unlock after a site move.
A licence on AutoPay shows the date it renews; nothing needs doing. A licence bought before AutoPay starts prompting inside the last stretch before it ends and spells out what lapses. Turn on AutoPay in My Account at any time: the days already paid for carry over, and a licence bought before AutoPay gets a lower price for its first year on Yearly AutoPay.
On a Premium licence a Premium extensions card sends you to EasyCart › Extensions, where the WP EasyCart Premium plugin adds, updates and manages every extension; if Premium is not installed yet, the card offers Install WP EasyCart Premium. If support lapses, your extensions keep running with their current settings, and once Premium is active again you can install, update and change them. On a Pro licence the same spot offers the upgrade to Premium, and your key stays the same. The steps are in Installing Extensions.
If the licensing server cannot be reached, your store keeps working and nothing needs re-entering. WP EasyCart PRO keeps its last answer for 30 days; the page names the date it stopped hearing back and the date Pro features would lock, and asks you to let your host allow the connection. Press Retry once it is sorted.
💡 Note: Check the registered URL if features will not unlock after moving the site. The current state is also summarised on Store Status.
When a trial or licence ends
What locks, what stays, and how to pick it up
no stored settingsThe message is consistent across both endings, and it is the reassuring one: your products, orders and settings are untouched. The store keeps selling. Only the paid panels lock.
When a trial ends, upgrading turns the trial key into a licence. Nothing is reinstalled and nothing is re-entered, and the site stays exactly as you configured it.
When a licence lapses, turning AutoPay back on, or updating the card when an AutoPay payment did not go through, reopens every paid panel on the site within a few minutes, using the same key on the same site. Sign in to My Account with the account that holds the licence. If you have bought a new key instead, enter it under Bought a new license? and it replaces the ended one. A key entered during a trial, or after support has expired, activates straight away.
Choosing not to continue is offered as a real option rather than hidden: Not renewing? Switch to the free edition. switches off WP EasyCart PRO, and your data is kept either way. Note the practical effect: the paid panels close and the two per cent gateway fee on the free edition returns.
⚠️ Careful: Letting a licence lapse locks the paid panels and brings back the two per cent gateway fee on card payments. Your products, orders and settings are kept untouched either way.
