Choices and combinations
Sets, variations and add-ons
What shoppers choose, what those choices produce, and what can be added on top.
Option sets
The choices that create variations
no stored settingsOption sets are the choices a shopper picks, such as Size or Color, and every combination of their choices becomes a variation you can sell. Pick a set from Select an option set to add and click Add option set, or Create a new option set without leaving the editor. Drag sets to change their order.
PRO attaches up to five sets; the free edition has two. Each set multiplies the combinations: two sets of three choices is nine variations, three sets of four is sixty-four. Each one is potentially its own price, stock count and SKU to keep up to date.
The first set attached is the one per-option galleries follow, so if you sell by color, attach color first.
⚠️ Careful: Combinations multiply fast, and each one is potentially its own price, stock count and SKU. Count them before committing to a structure you will have to maintain.
Variations
One row per combination, with its own SKU, price and stock
no stored settingsThe Variations table is generated from your option sets, one row per combination, and each row can carry its own SKU, price and stock. Filter View narrows it to enabled or disabled variations, or to one choice. A variation that is switched off cannot be added to the cart.
A variation can also have its own weight and cost. Its weight then replaces the product weight in shipping, and its cost is what the order line records for profit reporting.
Changing the option sets keeps each existing variation’s SKU, price, stock and on or off switch, and only adds or removes the combinations that changed. Export and Import Variations handle large ranges as a spreadsheet: the import writes stock, SKU and price and keeps everything else on the row. Doing sixty rows by hand in a browser is how mistakes happen.
💡 Note: Per-variation stock also shows in Inventory Report, one row per variation. For a step by step walkthrough, see How to Add Sizes, Colors and Custom Options.
Modifiers and conditional logic
Add-ons, and showing a field only when it is relevant
no stored settingsModifiers ( PRO ) are add-ons and personalization rather than variations: engraving text, gift wrap, file uploads, checkboxes, radio groups and image swatches. They can change the price but never affect stock, and there is no limit on how many a product has.
Conditional Logic shows or hides a modifier based on what the shopper picks in other fields, when ANY or ALL of its rules match. The typical case is an artwork upload that should only appear once the shopper has ticked the personalization box. A modifier with no rules always shows.
Used well, it keeps a complex made-to-order product feeling as simple as a plain one until the moment the detail is needed.
