Coupons
Coupons are discount codes shoppers enter at checkout — hand them out on social media, in email newsletters, on Twitter, anywhere your customers are. However you distribute them is up to you. Just make sure coupon entry is enabled and visible on the front end in your basic settings.

Creating Coupons
In this video we build custom coupon codes that are used during checkout in your WordPress shopping cart.
Create & Edit Coupons
Four quick steps and your coupon is live.
Set a Unique Code & Message
Every coupon needs a unique code and a custom message the shopper sees when they redeem it. For example, code it “summer2020” with a message like “You just earned 20% off your order!” You can cap total redemptions — you can’t track individual users, but you can allow 100 total uses and watch the count climb — and set an expiration date, or simply delete the coupon when you’re done with it.
Choose the Coupon Type
Pick the discount style that fits your promotion:
- Dollar Based: The user gets a dollar value off their cart total.
- Percentage Based: The user gets a percentage off their cart total.
- Shipping Based: The user gets a dollar value off shipping — enter 0.00 to make shipping free.
- Free Item Based: Just flags that the code was entered correctly. What you do with it — a free gift, another coupon, a drawing entry — is entirely up to you; no discount is automatically applied.
- Buy One Get One (BOGO): A price or percentage off the 2nd item. It applies only to the first and second matching product, not across multiple quantities — great for buy-one-get-one-free or buy-one-get-50%-off.
Target the Right Products
Select the group of products the coupon applies to — a single product, or an entire category or manufacturer list.
Set Special Conditions
Apply to First Order Only: limits the code to a customer’s first order. Not foolproof, but it curbs repeat coupon abuse. Apply Discount to Shipping: lets the coupon calculate against shipping too — handy for a 100% off coupon meant to be truly free, shipping included.
WP EasyCart — Coupon Setup

Apply Coupons Automatically With a URL Link
Skip the typing. WP EasyCart can apply a coupon straight from a link — perfect for email campaigns and social posts where you’re giving away a code.
It’s optional, and takes a little extra effort in your link — but all you need is one URL variable added to your marketing links.
💡 Example: Use your own URL and swap abc123 for your coupon code: https://www.yourwebsite.com/?ec_coupon=abc123. Anyone who visits that link gets the coupon applied to their cart automatically — no code entry required.
