Upgrading the Plugin
Upgrading WP EasyCart is as easy as updating any other WordPress plugin. Your products, images, and custom data are stored separately from the plugin files — so updates never touch your store data.

How to update
Check for updates
Go to WordPress Admin → Plugins and look for an available update notification on WP EasyCart.
Click update
Click the update link. WordPress removes and replaces the plugin files automatically — your store data stays untouched.
Update extensions
If you have WP EasyCart PRO or other extensions, update those the same way. No store data is affected.
How It Works
Why updates are safe
EasyCart uses a two-folder structure that separates plugin code from your store data. This means WordPress can safely remove and replace the plugin folder during updates without affecting your products, images, or customizations.
- /wp-easycart — Core plugin files. Replaced on every update. Don’t put custom files here.
- /wp-easycart-data — Your products, images, uploads, and custom layout overrides. Never touched by updates.
Keep everything up to date
It is important to update all plugins along with WordPress as they become available. Updates include security patches, bug fixes, and compatibility improvements that keep your store running smoothly and securely.
Extensions
Upgrading PRO and extensions
The Professional Admin plugin and any extensions follow the exact same upgrade process. Look for the update notification in WordPress Admin → Plugins, click update, and you’re done. No store data is affected during the process.
